Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a DR Congo eVisa at visa.gouv.cd at least 2 weeks before departure. The online form asks for a passport scan, passport photo, and travel itinerary. Pay the fee online — expect approval within 5–7 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport to the border.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your Norwegian passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from DR Congo. Immigration at N'djili Airport checks this strictly — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding in Oslo or Addis Ababa.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of exit
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket at passport control. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready. Airlines also check this before issuing a boarding pass.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in DR Congo. Immigration may ask where you're staying — having a booking confirmation speeds things up at the desk.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have bank statements or a credit card showing access to at least $500 USD for your stay. Officers rarely ask, but if they do, a printed statement from your Norwegian bank works fine.Recommended
eVisa required — no exceptions
Norwegian passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival. You must apply and receive approval before your flight. Airlines check this before boarding.
Yellow fever vaccination required
You'll need to show a valid yellow fever certificate at immigration. Get vaccinated at least 10 days before travel.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to visa.gouv.cd, fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport photo and scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $100–$150 depending on processing time). Processing takes 3–7 business days.
2
Receive and save your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get a PDF by email. Print a copy and save it on your phone. The eVisa is linked to your passport number — no need to mail anything.
3
Arrive at N'djili Airport (FIH) in Kinshasa
At immigration, present your passport, printed eVisa, return ticket, and accommodation booking. The officer may ask a few questions (purpose of visit, where you're staying). Expect a short queue — 15–30 minutes if you have all documents ready.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. No additional forms needed. You're free to enter.
