Iceland entry requirements for Norway passport holders
Norwegians can travel to Iceland visa-free for any length of stay — there are no limits on how long you can stay. This has been the case since the Nordic Passport Union was established, and it remains unchanged in 2026. Just bring your valid passport and you're good to go.
Entry requirements
| Requirement | Details | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Valid passport Must cover entire stay | Your Norwegian passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your stay in Iceland. Schengen border officers rarely enforce the 6-month rule for EU/EEA nationals, but airlines may still check it at check-in. | Required |
| Return or onward ticket Proof of departure from Schengen area | Icelandic border officers routinely ask for proof of onward travel out of the Schengen zone within 90 days. A return ticket to Norway or a flight to a non-Schengen country works. Budget airlines at Keflavík are strict about this. | Required |
| Proof of accommodation Hotel booking or host invitation | Immigration at Keflavík may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. A hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Iceland is enough. | Recommended |
| Proof of funds Show you can support yourself | Officers can ask for evidence of sufficient funds for your stay. A bank statement or credit card showing access to around 10,000 ISK per day is usually sufficient. | Recommended |
