Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa-free entryYou do not need to apply for a visa in advance; you will receive an entry permit at the airport or border.
No visa required for Norwegian citizens
Norwegian passport holders can enter Oman without a visa for tourism or short stays. The entry permit is granted on arrival, valid for a limited period (typically up to 30 days). It is not extendable.Required
Passport validityMake sure your passport does not expire within 6 months of your travel date, or you may be denied entry.
At least 6 months from arrival
Your Norwegian passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended date of arrival in Oman.Required
Blank passport pagesThe immigration officer will stamp your passport on arrival, so a blank page is necessary.
At least 1 blank page
Your passport must have at least 1 blank page for the entry stamp. It is recommended to have more than one blank page to avoid issues.Required
Return or onward ticketAirlines and immigration may ask to see your outbound flight booking.
Proof of departure
You must be able to show a confirmed return or onward ticket to a destination outside Oman, proving that you will leave before your entry permit expires.Required
Proof of fundsHaving a credit card or some cash can help if an officer asks how you will support yourself.
Sufficient means of support
You may be asked to show evidence of sufficient funds to cover your stay in Oman. This is not always requested, but it is wise to carry cash or cards.Recommended
Accommodation detailsIt is common to be asked where you are staying; having the address handy speeds up the process.
Hotel booking or host address
Immigration may ask for your accommodation address in Oman. Have your hotel reservation or host's contact details ready.Recommended
Arrival declarationYou do not need to fill out any arrival form in advance.
Not required
Oman does not require a separate arrival declaration form for Norwegian citizens. No online or paper declaration is needed before arrival. Not required
E-visa applicationSkip the e-visa process unless your trip is for work, study, or exceeds the visa-free period.
Not required for visa-free entry
Since you are visa-free, you do not need to apply for an e-visa through the Royal Oman Police e-visa portal. If you plan to stay longer or for other purposes, an e-visa may be required. Not required
Visa-free entry is not extendable
Your 30-day visa-free stay cannot be extended. If you overstay, you'll face fines. Plan your trip accordingly or exit and re-enter if you need more time.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Oman requires at least 6 months of passport validity from your arrival date. Even if you're only staying a week, a passport with less than 6 months will cause problems at check-in or immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Muscat International Airport
Follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then to 'Passport Control'. There are separate queues for GCC nationals and others — join the 'Foreigners' or 'All Passports' line.
2
Present your passport at the counter
Hand over your passport. The officer will check your validity, look at your face, and stamp you in. No forms to fill, no fee to pay. Takes about 2 minutes.
3
Collect your luggage and exit
After the stamp, proceed to baggage claim and then through customs. Green channel if you have nothing to declare. That's it — you're in.
