eVisa is the only option

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to evisa.e-gov.kz/en/, fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page, and pay the fee. Processing takes 2–5 business days. You'll receive the approved eVisa by email.
2
Prepare your documents
Print or save on your phone: the eVisa approval, your passport, return ticket, hotel booking, and travel insurance. Keep them all together in a folder or a clear plastic sleeve.
3
Arrive at the airport in Kazakhstan
At Almaty or Astana airport, follow signs to 'Foreign Passports' or 'eVisa' lanes. Hand over your passport and eVisa printout. The officer will check your documents and stamp you in. The whole process usually takes 5–10 minutes.
4
Get your local SIM or eSIM
After clearing immigration, you can buy a local SIM at airport kiosks (Beeline, Kcell) or activate an Airalo eSIM before you land. Having data helps with maps and ride-hailing apps.
