Nepali passport holders need an eVisa to enter Nigeria in 2026. The process is entirely online — you apply before you travel and receive an approval letter to show at immigration in Lagos or Abuja.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Nigeria eVisa
Apply for your Nigeria eVisa at the Nigeria Immigration Service portal before you fly. The application asks for your passport details, travel dates, and a recent photo. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days, and you'll receive an approval letter by email — print it and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Nepalese passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into Nigeria. Airlines check this at check-in, and immigration officers in Lagos and Abuja enforce it strictly. If your passport is close to expiring, renew it before you book.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Nigeria
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket at the border. Without one, you risk being denied entry and sent back on the next flight. Have a printed copy or a digital version on your phone ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Nigeria. Immigration may ask where you're staying, and having a booking ready avoids delays at the counter.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statements or cash
Have bank statements from the last 3 months or a credit card showing available credit. Officers rarely ask, but if they do, you need to show you can cover your stay — around $100 per day is a safe benchmark.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine required
You must have a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate (yellow card) to enter Nigeria. Immigration officers at Lagos and Abuja airports routinely check for it. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated on the spot.
eVisa is not a sticker
The Nigerian eVisa is an approval letter you print and carry. You won't get a visa sticker in your passport. The immigration officer stamps your passport on arrival.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the Nigeria Immigration Service portal (portal.immigration.gov.ng), create an account, fill in your personal and travel details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page, and pay the visa fee. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive and print your approval letter
Once approved, you'll get an eVisa approval letter by email. Print a copy — you'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival in Nigeria.
3
Arrive at a Nigerian airport
Fly into Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS) in Lagos or Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (ABV) in Abuja. At immigration, present your passport, printed eVisa letter, return ticket, and accommodation proof. The officer will stamp you in.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After clearing immigration, collect your bags from the carousel and proceed through customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel.
