Nepali passport holders need an eVisa to enter Oman. Apply online before you travel — there's no visa on arrival for Nepali citizens. The eVisa covers tourism and short business visits.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for an Oman eVisa at the Royal Oman Police eVisa portal. Processing takes 1–3 business days. Print the approved eVisa and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Oman. Airlines check this before boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or digital version ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel reservation confirmation or a letter from your host in Oman. Immigration may ask for it at the counter.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Have a recent bank statement or enough cash to cover your stay. Officers rarely ask, but it helps if questioned.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Oman, not from your departure date. Double-check before you apply — a rejected visa means lost time and money.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa PDF, flight tickets, and hotel booking on your phone and in cloud storage. If you lose your printed documents, you can still show them on your phone at immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to the Royal Oman Police eVisa portal (evisa.rop.gov.om). Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a scanned copy of your passport photo page and a passport-sized photo. Pay the fee online with a credit or debit card. Processing usually takes 1–3 business days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get the eVisa by email. Print a paper copy and also save a PDF on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival in Oman.
3
Arrive at Muscat International Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control' (not 'GCC Nationals'). Join the queue for foreign passport holders. Have your passport, printed eVisa, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready. The officer will check your documents, take your fingerprints, and stamp your passport. The whole process usually takes 10–20 minutes.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, head to baggage claim. Then proceed through customs (green channel if nothing to declare). You're free to enter Oman.

Frequently asked questions

The eVisa fee varies by type and duration. For a standard tourist eVisa (single entry, up to 30 days), the fee is typically around 20 OMR (about 50 USD). Check the official portal for the exact amount at the time of application.
Processing usually takes 1–3 business days. Apply at least a week before your trip to be safe. During peak seasons or if there are errors in your application, it can take longer.
No, the eVisa for Nepali passport holders is not extendable. You must leave before it expires. If you need to stay longer, you'd need to exit and re-enter with a new visa.
Rejections are rare but can happen if your documents are incomplete or your passport doesn't meet the validity requirement. You can reapply after fixing the issue. There's no formal appeal process — just submit a new application.
If you're staying airside and not passing through immigration, you generally don't need a visa for transits under 6 hours. For longer layovers or if you want to leave the airport, you'll need the eVisa. Check with your airline for specific transit rules.
Yes, but you still need the eVisa. The same online application applies. At the land border (e.g., Hatta crossing), you'll show your eVisa, passport, and vehicle documents if driving. The process is similar to the airport.
It's not a mandatory requirement listed on the eVisa application, but it's strongly recommended. Some airlines may ask for proof of insurance at check-in. Medical costs in Oman are high, so it's wise to have coverage.
