Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Uganda eVisa
Apply for your Uganda eVisa at the official Uganda eVisa portal before you travel. Processing usually takes 2–3 business days, and you'll receive an approval letter by email. Print that letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Entebbe will check it before stamping you in.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your Nepalese passport needs to be valid for at least the full period you plan to stay in Uganda. Airlines at Kathmandu may ask to see it before letting you board, so check the expiry date before you head to the airport.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Uganda
Immigration officers at Entebbe routinely ask for a return or onward ticket showing you'll leave Uganda within your allowed stay. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone — they won't let you through without one.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Uganda. Immigration may ask where you're staying, and having a booking confirmation speeds things up at the counter.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or cash equivalent to about $200 USD per day of your stay. Officers rarely ask, but if they do, you'll need to show you have enough to cover your trip without working locally.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must have the yellow fever vaccine at least 10 days before travel and carry the yellow card. Immigration at Entebbe checks it for every passenger. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated on the spot at your own cost.
eVisa is the only option
There is no visa on arrival for Nepalese passport holders. Do not book your flight until you have the eVisa approval in hand. Apply early.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Uganda immigration website (visas.immigration.go.ug) and fill out the application. Upload a scanned copy of your passport bio page and a passport-sized photo. Pay the visa fee online with a credit or debit card.
2
Wait for approval
Processing usually takes 2–5 business days. You'll receive the eVisa by email. Print a copy and also save a PDF on your phone.
3
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport
At immigration, present your passport, the printed eVisa, and your return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. The queue can be slow — expect 20–40 minutes.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, go to baggage claim, then customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel. Taxis and ride-hailing apps are available outside.
