Sufficient means of support

Yellow fever certificate is mandatory
Angola enforces the yellow fever vaccination requirement strictly. Without the yellow card, you may be refused entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport (which is not ideal). Get vaccinated at least 10 days before you fly.
eVisa is not extendable
The eVisa allows a specific stay period, and it cannot be extended. Plan your trip accordingly and make sure you leave before the expiry date to avoid fines or issues with future travel to Angola.
Apply early — don't rely on the 1-4 day processing
While the official processing time is 1-4 business days, technical glitches or missing documents can cause delays. Apply at least 2 weeks before your departure to have a buffer.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to https://www.smevisa.gov.ao/ and fill out the application form. Upload your passport scan, photo, and travel details. Pay the fee online. Processing takes 1-4 business days, so apply at least a week before your flight.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get the eVisa by email. Print a paper copy — you'll need it to show at check-in and at immigration in Luanda. Keep a digital backup on your phone too.
3
Arrive at Quatro de Fevereiro International Airport (Luanda)
When you land, go to the immigration queue for visitors. Have your passport, printed eVisa, and yellow fever certificate ready. The officer will stamp your passport — that's your entry. The eVisa is not extendable, so don't overstay.

Frequently asked questions

The official processing time is 1-4 business days. It's not instant, so apply at least a week before your trip to be safe. Weekends and Angolan public holidays don't count as business days.
No. The eVisa is not extendable. You must leave Angola before the authorized stay expires. Overstaying can result in fines and future entry problems.
If you're leaving the airport in Angola, yes — you'll need the yellow fever certificate. Even for transit, it's safer to have it because Angolan authorities may ask for it. Get vaccinated at least 10 days before travel.
If your eVisa is denied, you'll need to apply for a visa at an Angolan embassy or consulate instead. This is a more involved process — you'll need to submit your passport in person and wait longer. Check with the nearest Angolan embassy for specific requirements.
No, the eVisa is typically single-entry. If you leave Angola and want to return, you'll need to apply for a new eVisa.
The currency is the Angolan kwanza (AOA). Credit cards are accepted in major hotels and restaurants in Luanda, but cash is useful for smaller vendors and taxis. You can exchange money at banks or official exchange offices — avoid street changers.
Angola is on West Africa Time (UTC+1), the same as most of Western Europe. No daylight saving time, so the offset stays the same year-round.
