Omani passport holders need a visa to enter the United Kingdom in 2026. You must apply for a Standard Visitor visa before you travel — there is no visa-on-arrival or eTA option for Omanis. Plan ahead, as processing can take several weeks.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
UK Visa application
Apply for a Standard Visitor visa
Omani passport holders need a Standard Visitor visa before traveling to the UK. Apply online at gov.uk/apply-uk-visa, pay the £115 fee, and attend a biometric appointment at a UK visa application centre in Muscat. Processing takes 3 weeks on average — apply at least a month before your trip.Apply for UK visaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in the UK. No minimum validity beyond departure is required by UK immigration, but airlines may check for at least 6 months — carry a copy of your visa approval notice to show at check-in.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
UK Border Force officers routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a return flight booking or a ticket to your next destination ready — they check this at passport control, especially if you arrive without a visa vignette in your passport.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Immigration officers may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel booking confirmation or a letter of invitation from your UK host ready. If staying with friends or family, their address and contact number should be written down.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Officers may ask how you'll support yourself during your stay. Carry bank statements showing at least £1,000–£1,500 for a short trip, or a sponsor letter if someone else is covering costs. Credit card statements also help.Recommended
Apply well in advance
Visa processing can take up to 6 weeks, and appointments at the Muscat VAC can fill up quickly. Don't book non-refundable flights or hotels until your visa is approved.
Biometric appointment in Muscat
The only UK Visa Application Centre in Oman is in Muscat. You must attend in person to give fingerprints and a photo. No other locations are available.

What happens at the border

1
Apply online
Go to gov.uk/apply-uk-visa and fill out the Standard Visitor visa application. You'll need to create an account, answer questions about your trip, and pay the fee.
2
Book biometric appointment
After submitting, you'll be directed to book an appointment at a UK Visa Application Centre (VAC). In Oman, VACs are in Muscat. Bring your printed application, passport, and supporting documents.
3
Attend appointment and submit documents
At the VAC, you'll give fingerprints, a digital photo, and hand over your passport and documents. The staff will check everything and send it to UK Visas and Immigration.
4
Wait for decision
Standard processing takes 3–6 weeks. You can track your application online. Once approved, your passport will be returned with the visa vignette inside.
5
Travel to the UK
At UK border control (e.g., Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester), present your passport with the visa. The officer may ask about your trip, accommodation, and return plans. Answer honestly.
