Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your stay in Tunisia. Airlines at Muscat (MCT) will check this before boarding — they enforce it strictly.Required
Return or onward ticket
Outbound travel proof
Immigration officers at Tunis-Carthage Airport (TUN) routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Tunisia. Officers may ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or card for your stay
Have access to around 200 TND (about 65 OMR) per day of your stay — either in cash, a credit card, or a bank statement. Officers rarely check this, but it covers you if they do.Recommended
No visa needed — just show up
Omanis don't need a visa for Tunisia. No application, no fee, no embassy visit. Just a valid passport and a return ticket.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Tunisia. If it expires sooner, renew it before you go.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Tunis-Carthage Airport (or other entry point)
After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control' (Passeport). Join the queue for non-Tunisian passports. Have your passport and return ticket ready. The officer will check your passport, stamp it, and you're in. No visa fee, no forms to fill.
2
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim. Then walk through customs (green channel if nothing to declare). You're free to enter Tunisia.

Frequently asked questions

No, you don't. Omanis get visa-free access to Tunisia for up to 90 days. Just show up with a valid passport and a return ticket.
Up to 90 days per visit. The 90-day period starts from the day you enter. Overstaying can result in fines or entry bans.
No, the visa-free stay is not extendable. If you want to stay longer, you'd need to leave and re-enter, or apply for a residence permit from the Tunisian authorities — but that's a separate process.
Your passport (valid 6+ months), a return or onward ticket, and optionally proof of accommodation. Immigration officers rarely ask for more, but having a hotel booking and travel insurance is smart.
No, it's not mandatory. But it's strongly recommended. Medical costs in Tunisia can be high, and insurance covers emergencies, trip cancellations, and lost luggage.
You'll likely be denied boarding by the airline or refused entry at the border. Renew your passport before traveling.
It's risky. Immigration may ask for proof of onward travel. A return or onward ticket is strongly recommended to avoid being turned away.
