Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Afghanistan e-VisaWithout an approved e-Visa, you will not be allowed to enter Afghanistan.
Apply online before travel
You must obtain an e-Visa for Afghanistan before arrival. The e-Visa is valid for a single entry and is not extendable. Apply through the official Afghan e-Visa portal, providing your passport details and a digital photo. Processing typically takes a few business days; apply well in advance.Required
Passport validityYour passport must remain valid for half a year after you arrive, or you may be denied boarding or entry.
At least 6 months from entry
Your Peruvian passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended date of entry into Afghanistan. Ensure your passport does not expire before this period.Required
Blank passport pagesBorder officials need a clean page to stamp your passport; without it, entry is refused.
At least 1 blank page
Your passport must contain at least one blank page for the entry stamp. It is recommended to have more than one blank page in case additional stamps are needed.Required
Return or onward ticketImmigration often requires evidence that you will not overstay your visa.
Proof of departure
You may be asked to show a return or onward ticket proving you will leave Afghanistan before your e-Visa expires. Ensure your travel itinerary includes an exit flight.Required
Proof of fundsHaving proof of financial means helps satisfy immigration and can be useful in emergencies.
Sufficient money for stay
Carry evidence of sufficient funds (cash, bank statements, or credit cards) to cover your expenses during your stay in Afghanistan. The amount is not officially fixed but should be reasonable for your planned duration.Recommended
Arrival declarationYou can skip any arrival declaration paperwork – it is not part of the entry process.
Not required
No arrival declaration form is required for entry into Afghanistan. You do not need to complete any additional health or customs declaration upon arrival. Not required
High security risk
Afghanistan is an active conflict zone. The UK, US, and many other governments advise against all travel. If you go, have a professional security plan and emergency contacts. Your embassy may have limited ability to help.
E-visa is single-entry
The e-visa allows one entry. If you leave Afghanistan (even for a day), you'll need a new visa to return. Plan your itinerary accordingly.
No visa on arrival
Peruvian citizens cannot get a visa at the airport. Arriving without an approved e-visa means immediate refusal and deportation. Always have your printed e-visa with you.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the e-visa online
Go to the official Afghan e-visa portal (evisa.mfa.af) and fill out the application form. Upload your passport scan, photo, and travel details. Pay the fee online (around $100 USD, but check current rates).
2
Wait for processing
Processing can take anywhere from a few days to several weeks. Check your email for approval or requests for additional documents. Do not book non-refundable flights until you have the visa.
3
Print your e-visa
Once approved, you'll receive a PDF. Print at least two copies — one for immigration and one as a backup. Keep a digital copy on your phone too.
4
Arrive at Kabul International Airport
At Kabul (KBL), go to the immigration desk. Present your passport and printed e-visa. You'll be fingerprinted and photographed. The process is straightforward but can be slow — be patient.
5
Get your entry stamp
After verification, the officer will stamp your passport. Check that the stamp includes the correct entry date and allowed stay duration before leaving the counter.
