Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Cuba eVisa
Apply for a Cuba eVisa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal before travel. The eVisa is a single-entry authorization — you must present the approval email at check-in and upon arrival. Processing takes 3–5 business days, so apply at least a week before departure.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Peruvian passport
Your passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in Cuba. No minimum validity beyond departure is required by Cuban immigration, but airlines often enforce 6 months — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Outbound travel proof
Cuban immigration officers routinely ask for proof of onward travel at passport control. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready. Airlines also check this at check-in.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel or casa booking
Carry a printed or digital confirmation of your accommodation — hotel reservation or casa particular booking. Immigration may ask for the address you'll be staying at during the interview.Recommended
Proof of funds
Financial means
Have evidence of sufficient funds for your stay — a bank statement or credit card showing available credit works. Cuban officials rarely ask, but it's safer to have it ready.Recommended
eVisa required — no visa on arrival
Peruvian passport holders cannot get a visa at the airport. You must have an approved eVisa before you fly. Airlines will check this at check-in.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Cuba, not from your departure date. If it's close to expiring, renew it first.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Cuban eVisa portal. Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a digital passport photo. Pay the fee (around $30–$50 USD depending on processing speed). Submit and wait for approval — typically 3–5 business days.
2
Print or save your eVisa
Once approved, you'll receive a PDF. Print a paper copy and also save it to your phone. Immigration at Havana's José Martí International Airport will scan the QR code on arrival.
3
Prepare your documents for arrival
Have your passport, eVisa printout, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready. At immigration, queue at the 'Foreigners' counter. The officer will stamp your passport and may ask for your return ticket or hotel address.
4
Get a local SIM or eSIM
Cuba's mobile network is ETECSA. You can buy a SIM at the airport or in town. For convenience, get an Airalo eSIM before you go — it activates the moment you land, no queue needed.
