Peruvian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Ethiopia. Apply online before you travel — there's no visa on arrival. The process is straightforward if you have your documents ready.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for an Ethiopian eVisa at the official portal before departure. The eVisa is valid for tourism or business visits and typically processes within 3 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport to present at immigration.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have at least 6 months validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Ethiopia. Airlines at Lima and Addis Ababa enforce this strictly — no exceptions.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Bole International Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward flight ticket ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Hotel booking confirmations or a letter of invitation from your host in Ethiopia can speed up the immigration process. Officers rarely ask, but having it avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Carry evidence of sufficient funds for your stay, such as bank statements or a credit card. Immigration may ask if you look underprepared, especially for longer visits.Recommended
eVisa only valid for air entry
The Ethiopian eVisa is only accepted at Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa. If you plan to enter by land from Kenya, Sudan, or Djibouti, you need a different visa. Apply at an Ethiopian embassy before you travel.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa PDF, passport photo, and return ticket in your phone and email. Internet can be patchy — having offline copies saves headaches.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to www.evisa.gov.et. Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a scanned copy of your passport bio page and a passport-style photo. Pay the fee (around $52 USD for a 30-day single entry) with a credit card. You'll get a confirmation email within minutes.
2
Wait for approval
Most applications are processed within 3 business days, but apply at least a week before your trip to be safe. You'll receive the approved eVisa as a PDF attachment. Print two copies — one for immigration, one as backup.
3
Arrive at Bole International Airport (ADD)
After landing in Addis Ababa, follow signs to 'Immigration'. Hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. The whole process usually takes 10-20 minutes if you have everything ready.
