Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport must be valid for at least the full 30 days you plan to stay in Hong Kong. Airlines at Lima and other departure points may ask for 6 months validity — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Hong Kong
Immigration officers at Hong Kong International Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready — they check this before granting entry.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Hong Kong. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for your stay
Have access to around 3,000 HKD (roughly 1,000 PEN) in cash, a debit card, or a credit card. Immigration may ask how you plan to support yourself during the 30 days.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Hong Kong immigration requires your passport to be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. If it's close to expiry, renew before you go — you'll be turned away at the border.
Keep your departure card stub
When you arrive, immigration will give you a small departure card stub stapled into your passport. Don't lose it — you'll need to hand it back when you leave Hong Kong.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Hong Kong International Airport
Follow signs to 'Arrivals' then 'Immigration'. Join the 'Visitors' queue, not the Hong Kong residents queue.
2
Fill out the arrival card
You'll receive a small white arrival/departure card on the plane or at the immigration hall. Fill it out in English or Chinese. Keep the departure stub in your passport — you'll need it when you leave.
3
Present your passport and documents
Hand over your passport and completed arrival card. The officer may ask for your return ticket or accommodation proof. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport with the entry date and allowed stay.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After passing immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. Most tourists have nothing to declare. Exit into the arrival hall.
