Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Peruvian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Kazakhstan. Apply at the official eVisa portal at least 5 working days before departure. The eVisa is single-entry and valid for up to 30 days.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the duration of your stay in Kazakhstan. No minimum validity beyond departure is required by Kazakh law, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Almaty and Nur-Sultan airports routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing your exit from Kazakhstan within the eVisa validity.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Kazakhstan. Border officers occasionally ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient cash or card
Have evidence of at least $50 USD per day for your stay — a bank statement or credit card works. Officers rarely check this, but it can come up if you look under-resourced.Recommended
Airlines may enforce 6-month passport validity
Kazakh law doesn't require 6 months validity beyond your stay, but many airlines do. If your passport expires sooner, you might be denied boarding. Check with your carrier before booking.
eVisa is single-entry only
The eVisa allows one entry. If you leave Kazakhstan (even to a neighboring country), you'll need a new visa to re-enter. For multiple visits, consider a multiple-entry tourist visa (~$150 USD, valid 6 months).
Travel insurance with medical evacuation is strongly advised
Medical care in major cities is adequate but expensive. Rural areas may lack quality care. A hospital stay can cost hundreds per day. Insurance with evacuation coverage protects you from huge bills.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to https://evisa.e-gov.kz/en/, fill in your details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the ~$80 USD fee by card. You'll receive the approved eVisa by email within 5 working days. Print it and keep a digital copy on your phone.
2
Pack your documents
Before heading to the airport, double-check you have: your printed eVisa, passport (valid 6+ months from entry), return/onward ticket confirmation, and hotel booking or host invitation. Also grab a bank statement or credit card as proof of funds.
3
Arrive at the airport in Kazakhstan
At Almaty or Nur-Sultan airport, go to the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation. Answer clearly — they're checking you're a genuine tourist. Expect 5–15 minutes.
4
Get your passport stamped
The officer will stamp your passport with your entry date and the allowed stay (usually 30 days from entry). Check the stamp before leaving the counter. Keep the eVisa printout with your passport for the duration of your trip.
