Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Pakistan eVisa
Apply online at the official Pakistan eVisa portal before you fly. Processing takes 3–5 working days for most nationalities. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Islamabad and Karachi will ask for it.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Passport validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Pakistan. Airlines at Lima and connecting hubs check this before boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration at Pakistani airports routinely asks for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Border officers may ask where you're staying. A hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Pakistan is enough. Keep a copy handy.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for stay
Carry evidence of enough funds for your trip — bank statements or a credit card with a decent limit. Pakistan rarely asks, but it's better to have it.Recommended
Apply early — processing can be slow
The eVisa processing time is 7–10 working days, but can stretch to 2 weeks or more during holidays or if your application has errors. Don't book non-refundable flights until you have the approved visa in hand.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa approval, passport bio page, return ticket, and hotel booking as PDFs on your phone and in cloud storage. If you lose your printouts, you can still show them on your phone.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Pakistan eVisa portal (visa.nadra.gov.pk) and fill out the application. You'll need to upload a scanned copy of your passport bio page, a passport-sized photo, and your travel details. Pay the fee online with a credit or debit card.
2
Wait for approval
Processing usually takes 7–10 working days, but can be longer during peak times. Check your email and the portal for updates. Once approved, you'll receive an eVisa letter — print it and keep a digital copy on your phone.
3
Arrive at a Pakistani airport
Most travellers fly into Islamabad (ISB), Karachi (KHI), or Lahore (LHE). At immigration, present your passport, eVisa printout, and return ticket. The officer will stamp your passport and let you through.
4
Show your accommodation and onward ticket if asked
Immigration officers may ask to see your hotel booking and onward ticket. Have them ready on your phone or as printouts. Answer clearly and confidently.
