Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Somalia eVisa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal. Processing takes 3–5 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Mogadishu airport will stamp you in on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your Peruvian passport needs at least one blank page for the entry stamp. Somalia does not enforce a 6-month validity rule — just make sure it's valid for the dates you're in the country.Required
Return or onward ticket
Immigration checks this
Somalia immigration officers at Mogadishu airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or next destination ticket ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Somalia. Immigration may ask where you're staying, especially if you're arriving without a pre-arranged tour operator.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or card statement
Have at least $500 USD in cash or a bank statement showing sufficient funds. Somalia is a cash-based economy — credit cards are rarely accepted outside major hotels in Mogadishu.Recommended
Security situation
Somalia is a high-risk destination. Check your government's travel advisory before booking. Arrange security and accommodation in advance — don't rely on finding a hotel on arrival.
eVisa is mandatory
There is no visa on arrival for Peruvians. You must have an approved eVisa before you fly. Apply early to avoid last-minute issues.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa
Go to the official Somalia eVisa website (if available) or use a trusted visa service. Fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a copy of your passport bio page. Pay the fee online. Processing takes 3–7 business days.
2
Print your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll receive a PDF. Print two copies — one for the airline check-in desk and one for immigration on arrival.
3
Arrive at the airport in Somalia
At Mogadishu Aden Adde International Airport (MGQ), head to the immigration hall. Present your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. Expect a short queue — 10–20 minutes usually.
4
Show your accommodation booking
Immigration may ask for your first night's hotel confirmation. Have it ready on your phone or printed.
