Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Timor-Leste

Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter

Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Have at least $100 USD in cash or a credit card statement showing available funds. Immigration officers rarely ask, but it's better to have it ready if questioned.Recommended
Bring USD cash — no ATMs before immigration
There are no ATMs or currency exchange counters before the visa on arrival counter. You must pay the $30 fee in cash. Bring small bills if possible.
Visa on arrival is only available at Dili Airport
If you arrive by land from Indonesia (the only land border), you must get a visa in advance. The visa on arrival is only issued at Dili's international airport.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Dili Airport
You'll land at Presidente Nicolau dos Santos Lobato International Airport (DIL). Follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' or 'Immigration' — it's a small airport, so you can't miss it.
2
Queue at the visa on arrival counter
Join the line at the designated counter. Have your passport, return ticket (screenshot is fine), and USD cash ready. The officer will process your visa and collect the fee.
3
Receive your visa and proceed to passport control
Once the visa is issued, you'll get a sticker in your passport. Then move to the passport control queue. Show your passport with the visa, and you're through.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, pick up your bags from the carousel and walk through customs. There's usually no customs declaration form for short visits.
