Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Uganda eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for your Uganda eVisa at the official portal at least 2 weeks before departure. The eVisa costs $50 USD for a single-entry tourist visa and takes 3–5 business days to process. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Entebbe will check it before stamping you in.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have at least 6 months validity beyond your intended stay
Your Peruvian passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into Uganda. Airlines at Lima and connecting hubs will enforce this before letting you board. If your passport expires sooner, renew it first.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Uganda
Immigration officers at Entebbe routinely ask for a return or onward ticket showing you'll leave Uganda within your eVisa's validity period. Have a printed or digital copy ready — if you can't show one, they may deny entry or put you on the next flight out.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Uganda. Immigration may ask where you're staying, and having a booking ready avoids delays at the counter.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Have bank statements or a credit card ready to show you have at least $200 USD per day of your stay. Immigration rarely asks, but if they do, you'll need to prove you're not planning to work illegally.Recommended
eVisa is mandatory — no visa on arrival
Peruvian passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Uganda. You must have the eVisa approved before you travel. Airlines will check this before letting you board.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Uganda, not from when you leave. If it expires sooner, renew it first.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to visas.immigration.go.ug, create an account, fill in the application, upload your passport scan and a passport-style photo, and pay the fee (around $50 for a single-entry tourist visa). Processing usually takes 2–5 business days, but apply at least a week before your trip.
2
Receive and save your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get a PDF via email. Print a copy and save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at the airport when checking in for your flight to Uganda.
3
Arrive at Entebbe or land border
At Entebbe International Airport or any land border like Busia or Malaba, go to the immigration desk. Hand over your passport, eVisa printout, and return ticket. They'll stamp you in for up to 90 days or whatever your eVisa allows.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel, then walk through customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel. You're in.
