Visa on arrival
Visa on arrival
Get your visa at the airport in Harare, Victoria Falls, or Bulawayo. Pay in USD cash — $30 for single entry (tourist), $45 for double entry. Have a printed copy of your hotel booking and return ticket ready at the visa counter.Apply onlineRequired
Valid passport
Passport validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Zimbabwe. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Return ticket
Immigration officers at Harare and Victoria Falls routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a bus/train ticket out of Zimbabwe.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking
Carry a printed confirmation of your first night's accommodation. If you're staying with friends, have their address and phone number written down — officers sometimes call to verify.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient funds
Officers may ask how you'll support yourself during your stay. Have a bank statement or credit card showing at least $500 USD available. Cash in USD is widely accepted in Zimbabwe.Recommended
Bring USD cash — no exceptions
The visa-on-arrival desk only accepts US dollars in cash. No credit cards, no debit cards, no other currencies. Bring small bills ($20s and $10s) to avoid change issues. ATMs at the airport dispense local currency (ZWL), which won't work for the visa fee.
Yellow fever vaccine required if coming from Peru
Peru is a yellow fever endemic country. If you're flying directly from Peru to Zimbabwe, you must show a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate. Get the shot at least 10 days before travel. Without it, you risk being denied entry or quarantined.

What happens at the border

1
Land at Zimbabwe airport
You'll arrive at Harare (HRE) or Victoria Falls (VFA). Follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Visa on Arrival'. There's usually a separate counter for visa applications.
2
Fill out the visa application form
Grab a form from the counter or the immigration officer. It asks for basic info: name, passport number, flight details, accommodation address. Fill it in while queuing.
3
Present documents and pay fee
Hand over your passport, completed form, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation. Pay the fee in USD cash. The officer will process your visa — usually takes 5–10 minutes.
4
Receive visa sticker and enter
The officer stamps the visa sticker into your passport and hands it back. You're now cleared to enter Zimbabwe. Keep the passport safe — you'll need it for hotel check-ins and park entry.
