Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for an Azerbaijan eVisa at evisa.gov.az. The standard processing takes 3 working days, urgent processing is available in 3 hours for a higher fee. Print the approved eVisa and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your Polish passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in Azerbaijan. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required by law, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Baku Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or onward ticket ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Border officers may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Azerbaijan ready.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Officers can request evidence of sufficient funds. Carry a bank statement or credit card showing you have at least $50 per day of your trip.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Count 6 months from the day you land in Azerbaijan, not from your departure date. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before applying for the eVisa. Airlines will deny boarding if your passport doesn't meet this requirement.
eVisa is single-entry only
The standard eVisa allows one entry and a stay of up to 30 days. If you leave Azerbaijan (even for a day trip to Georgia), you'll need a new eVisa to re-enter.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.gov.az and fill in the application. You'll need your passport details, travel dates, and a digital photo. Pay the fee (around $20 USD) by card. Processing takes up to 3 business days.
2
Receive your eVisa by email
Once approved, you'll get a PDF via email. Print a copy and save it on your phone. The eVisa is linked to your passport number — no need to show it at check-in, but keep it handy.
3
Fly to Baku (GYD)
At check-in, the airline will verify your passport validity and return ticket. At Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport, go to the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport and printed eVisa. The officer stamps you in — no extra forms.
4
Enter Azerbaijan
After the stamp, collect your luggage and walk through customs. Green channel if you have nothing to declare. You're in — enjoy Baku.
