Polish passport holders need an eVisa to enter Uganda. The application is entirely online, and you'll receive an approval letter by email — no embassy visit required. As of 2026, the eVisa is the standard entry method for tourism, business, and transit.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Uganda eVisa
Apply online at the Uganda eVisa portal before travel. The eVisa is mandatory for Polish passport holders — no visa on arrival available. Processing takes 2–3 business days, and you'll receive an approval letter to present at the border.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Uganda. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Uganda
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at Entebbe Airport. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready — they may also check that your onward flight is within the eVisa validity period.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Uganda. Immigration may ask where you're staying, especially if you're arriving without a pre-booked itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support your stay
Have a bank statement or cash equivalent to at least $200 USD per day of your stay. Officers rarely ask, but if they do, you'll need to demonstrate you can cover expenses without working.Recommended
eVisa is the only option
There is no visa on arrival for Polish passport holders. You must apply and receive approval before you travel. The official portal is visas.immigration.go.ug — avoid third-party sites that charge extra.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Uganda, not from your departure date. If it expires sooner, renew before applying for the eVisa.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Uganda Immigration eVisa portal (visas.immigration.go.ug). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee by credit card. Processing usually takes 2–5 business days, but can be faster.
2
Receive your eVisa approval letter
Once approved, you'll get a PDF by email. Print it out and also save a copy on your phone. The letter includes a QR code that immigration will scan on arrival.
3
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport (or land border)
At immigration, present your passport, the eVisa approval letter, and your return ticket. The officer will take your fingerprints and a photo. The whole process usually takes 10–20 minutes. If you arrive at a land border (e.g., from Kenya or Rwanda), the procedure is the same.
4
Receive your entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the entry date. The eVisa is typically valid for 90 days from issue, and you can stay up to 90 days per visit. Check the stamp — it shows the exact allowed stay.

Most applications are processed within 2–5 business days. In busy periods it can take up to a week. Apply at least two weeks before your trip to be safe.
No — the eVisa is not extendable. If you need to stay longer, you must leave the country and re-enter with a new visa. Overstaying can result in fines or a ban.
Yes, if you're arriving from a country with yellow fever (or have transited through one for more than 12 hours). Uganda requires proof of vaccination. Polish travellers coming directly from Poland don't need it, but if you've been in Africa or South America recently, carry your yellow card.
Yes. The eVisa is valid at all official entry points — Entebbe Airport, land borders with Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, South Sudan, and DR Congo. Just present your approval letter and passport.
Rejections are rare for Polish citizens, but can happen if your photo doesn't meet specs or your passport is too close to expiry. You'll get a refund? No — the fee is non-refundable. You can reapply with corrected documents.
Not officially required, but it's smart to have a bank statement or credit card handy. Immigration officers rarely ask, but if they do, showing you have enough for your stay (around $200–300) is enough.
