What happens at the border

1
Complete the online eVisa application
Go to https://www.evisa.mr/ and fill out the application form. Enter your passport details, personal information, and travel dates. Upload your passport photo and a scan of your passport's bio page. Double-check everything before submitting — mistakes cause delays.
2
Pay the eVisa fee and submit
Pay the required fee online using a credit or debit card. The fee is non-refundable, so make sure your application is correct. After payment, you will receive a confirmation email with a reference number.
3
Wait for approval
Processing typically takes 2–5 business days. Check your email (including spam folder) for the approval notification. You can also check the status on the eVisa portal using your reference number.
4
Print or save your eVisa
Once approved, download and print a copy of your eVisa. Also save a digital copy on your phone as backup. You will need to present it at check-in and at Mauritanian immigration.
5
Arrive in Mauritania and go through immigration
At Nouakchott–Oumtounsy International Airport (or other entry points), present your passport, eVisa, and any requested documents to the immigration officer. They will stamp your passport and grant you entry. Keep your eVisa with you during your stay — you may need it for hotel check-ins or police checks.
