What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Papua New Guinea eVisa portal (or use the link in the checklist below). Fill in your personal details, passport info, travel dates, and upload a passport-style photo. Pay the fee online with a credit card. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days, but can be longer — apply at least 2 weeks before your flight.
2
Receive and save your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get a PDF by email. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. Immigration at Jacksons International Airport in Port Moresby will ask to see it when you arrive.
3
Prepare your documents for arrival
Have your passport, eVisa printout, return ticket, and accommodation booking ready before you join the queue. The immigration hall can be slow — expect 20–40 minutes. Keep your phone charged in case they want to see the digital copy.
4
Arrive and clear immigration
At Port Moresby airport, follow signs to 'Arrivals' and join the queue for foreign passport holders. Hand over your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask about your accommodation and return flight. Answer clearly. You'll get an entry stamp valid for the duration of your eVisa.
