Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date from the Philippines
Your passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from the day you leave the Philippines. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding. Immigration officers in Manila also enforce this strictly.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from the Philippines within 30 days
Immigration at NAIA Terminal 1, 2, and 3 asks for a return or onward ticket every time. They want to see you're leaving within the 30-day visa-free period. A printed itinerary or digital boarding pass works — just have it ready before you reach the counter.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration officers sometimes ask where you're staying, especially if you're a first-time visitor or traveling solo. A hotel confirmation email or a letter from your host with their address and contact number is enough. I've been asked for this about half the time.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash, bank statement, or credit card
Officers may ask how you'll support yourself during your stay. Have at least ₱10,000 (around $180 USD) in cash or a recent bank statement showing sufficient balance. A credit card with a decent limit also works — they just want to see you're not arriving broke.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines and immigration will deny boarding or entry if your passport has less than 6 months validity from your arrival date. Double-check before you fly.
Keep your return ticket handy
Immigration officers often ask for proof of onward travel. A screenshot on your phone is acceptable, but make sure it's easy to find.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the airport
You'll land at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Manila), Mactan-Cebu International Airport, or another entry point. Follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Foreign Passports'.
2
Queue at immigration
Join the line for foreign passport holders. Have your passport, return ticket (printed or on phone), and accommodation booking ready. Officers may ask your purpose of visit and length of stay.
3
Get your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with a 30-day visa-free entry. Check the stamp says '30 days' before leaving the counter. If it's less, ask politely for clarification.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. You're free to enter the Philippines.
