Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Serbia. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required by Serbian law, but some airlines may ask for 6 months validity — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Recommended to show at border control
Immigration officers at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport may ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to a third country ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Hotel booking confirmation or an invitation letter from a host in Serbia can smooth your entry. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
You may be asked to show you have enough money for your stay — roughly €50 per day. A recent bank statement or credit card is usually sufficient.Recommended
Overstay penalties are strict
Serbia enforces the 90-day limit strictly. Overstaying even by a day can result in a fine and a re-entry ban. Set a calendar reminder to leave before day 90.
No visa needed, but keep documents handy
While there's no visa, immigration officers can ask for proof of onward travel and accommodation. Have digital copies on your phone or printed backups.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare documents before travel
Check your passport validity (6+ months from entry date). Book your return/onward ticket and first night accommodation. Save screenshots of both on your phone. Arrange travel insurance if you want coverage.
2
Arrive at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport or other border
At the airport, follow signs to 'Non-EU Passports' or 'All Passports'. Join the queue for foreign nationals. Have your passport and any supporting documents ready.
3
Present your passport to the border officer
Hand over your passport. The officer will check your photo, validity, and may ask about your trip purpose and length of stay. Answer honestly. They'll stamp your passport with the entry date and permitted stay.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim (if you checked bags), then customs. The green channel is for standard personal items. Exit into the arrivals hall.

Frequently asked questions

No. The visa-free stay is not extendable. You must leave Serbia before the 90th day. Overstaying can result in fines, a ban, or difficulty re-entering. If you need to stay longer, you must apply for a temporary residence permit at a Serbian police station before your 90 days expire.
No, not for stays under 90 days. Your accommodation provider (hotel, hostel, etc.) is required to register your stay with the local police within 24 hours of your arrival. If you're staying with friends or family, they must do this. You don't need to do anything yourself.
Overstaying is a violation of Serbian immigration law. You may face a fine (typically 5,000–50,000 RSD, about €40–€425), a ban from re-entering Serbia for up to 1 year, or both. Always leave before day 90.
The visa-free regime is for tourism, business meetings, and transit. Remote work for a foreign employer is generally tolerated for short stays, but it's a grey area. If you plan to work for a Serbian company or stay long-term, you need a work permit. For digital nomads, Serbia offers a specific temporary residence permit (up to 1 year) — apply at your local police station.
Kosovo is a separate territory. Qatari passport holders can enter Kosovo visa-free for up to 90 days. However, if you enter Serbia first and then cross into Kosovo, you must exit Serbia legally (through a border crossing) and enter Kosovo separately. Serbia does not recognize Kosovo's independence, so re-entering Serbia from Kosovo may be complicated. Check current border rules before traveling.
You will likely be denied boarding by your airline or refused entry at the border. Serbian immigration strictly enforces the 6-month validity rule. Renew your passport before traveling.
It depends. Standard Qatari passports are accepted. Emergency or temporary passports may not be recognized. Check with the Serbian embassy in Doha before traveling if you're using a non-standard passport.
