Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire period you plan to stay in Ukraine. Ukraine does not require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date, but your airline might enforce this — check with them before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Ukraine
Immigration officers at Kyiv Boryspil and Lviv airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing you leave within the 90-day visa-free period.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officers may ask where you are staying. Have a hotel confirmation, Airbnb booking, or a letter from your host with their address and contact details ready.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Ukraine does not publish a fixed minimum amount, but carrying at least $50–$100 USD per day in cash or a credit card statement helps. Officers rarely check this for short stays, but it is safer to have it.Recommended
Visa-free stay is 90 days per 180-day period
You can stay up to 90 days in any rolling 180-day window. Once you leave, you must wait until the 180-day period resets before returning for another 90-day stay. Keep track of your days to avoid overstaying.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Border officers will check that your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. If it's close to expiry, renew before you travel — you will be turned away otherwise.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before you leave, gather your passport (valid 6+ months), a printed or digital copy of your return ticket, and your first night's accommodation confirmation. Save everything to your phone as a backup.
2
Arrive at a Ukrainian airport or land border
You'll enter through Boryspil (Kyiv), Lviv, Odesa, or Kharkiv airports, or via land crossings from Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, or Moldova. At the border, join the 'All Passports' or 'Non-EU' queue.
3
Present your passport to the border officer
Hand over your passport. The officer will check your validity, scan your passport, and may ask about your purpose of visit, length of stay, and where you're staying. Answer clearly and briefly.
4
Receive your entry stamp
If everything is in order, the officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry and the allowed stay period (usually 90 days). Keep the stamp visible — you'll need it when leaving.
5
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim (if arriving by air), then head through customs. There's no separate visa or registration process for Qatari nationals.
