Qatari passport holders need an eVisa to enter Uganda. The entire application is online — you apply before you travel, and approval arrives by email. As of 2026, the eVisa covers tourism, business, and transit visits.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for your Uganda eVisa at the official portal at least 2 weeks before departure. The single-entry tourist eVisa costs $50 USD and is usually processed within 3–5 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Entebbe will stamp you in on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for 6 months beyond your stay
Your passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into Uganda. Airlines at Doha check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Entebbe routinely ask for proof of a return or onward flight. Have a printed itinerary or digital copy ready — they may deny entry if you can't show one.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
While not always checked, having a hotel booking or host invitation letter helps if the officer asks where you're staying. A simple printout of your first night's reservation is enough.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Officers may ask how you'll support yourself during your stay. Carry a bank statement or credit card showing at least $300 USD equivalent — cash in USD is widely accepted.Recommended
Yellow fever certificate may be required
Uganda requires proof of yellow fever vaccination if you've recently been in a country with yellow fever risk. Even if you're coming from Qatar, carry your yellow card — immigration at Entebbe sometimes asks for it.
Keep your eVisa approval on your phone
You don't need to print the eVisa — a screenshot or PDF on your phone is fine. But make sure your phone is charged and the file is easy to find.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to visas.immigration.go.ug, create an account, fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page, and pay the fee (around $50 for a single-entry tourist visa). Processing takes 2–5 business days. You'll receive the approval by email.
2
Pack your documents
Print or save on your phone: the eVisa approval email, your passport, return flight booking, and first-night hotel confirmation. Keep them together in a folder or a notes app.
3
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration'. Join the queue for 'Visitors with eVisa'. Hand over your passport and eVisa approval. The officer will check your documents, take a photo, and stamp you in. The whole process usually takes 10–20 minutes.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. If you have nothing to declare, walk through the green channel. You're in.

A single-entry tourist eVisa costs around $50 USD. The fee is paid online during the application. Check the official portal for the latest fee.

Yes, Uganda requires proof of yellow fever vaccination if you're arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever. Qatar is not a risk country, but if you've traveled to any risk country in the past 6 months, you'll need the certificate. Carry your yellow card just in case.
Yes, but it's more expensive and slower than the eVisa. The eVisa is cheaper and lets you skip the visa-on-arrival queue. If you do get a visa on arrival, expect to pay around $50 USD and wait 30–60 minutes.
Rejections are rare but can happen if your documents are incomplete or your passport is damaged. You can reapply with corrected information. Contact the Uganda Immigration helpdesk for guidance.
Not officially required, but it's smart to have a credit card or some cash (USD or UGX) handy. Immigration rarely asks, but if they do, showing a card or a few hundred dollars is enough.
