RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport

What happens at the border

1
Complete Check-Mig online
Go to migracioncolombia.gov.co and fill out the Check-Mig form. You'll need your flight details, passport info, and accommodation address. Do this 24–72 hours before your flight. Save the QR code or PDF on your phone.
2
Arrive at Colombian airport
At Bogotá (El Dorado), Medellín, or Cartagena airport, follow signs to 'Migración' or 'Extranjeros'. Have your passport, return ticket, and Check-Mig QR code ready. The officer will stamp your passport with up to 90 days.
3

After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel. Customs may randomly scan your luggage. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel. Then you're free to leave.

Frequently asked questions

No, the visa-free entry is not extendable. You must leave Colombia before day 90. Overstaying can result in fines and a ban from re-entering. If you want to stay longer, you'd need to apply for a different visa type (e.g., a visitor visa) before your 90 days are up.
You'll be fined approximately 1–2 USD per day overstayed, and you may be banned from re-entering Colombia for a period. Pay the fine at the immigration office before leaving. Avoid overstaying — it's not worth the hassle.
Not required for Romanian passport holders arriving directly from Europe. However, if you've recently been in a country with yellow fever (e.g., Brazil, Peru), you may need proof of vaccination. Check with your airline or the Colombian consulate if you're transiting through such areas.
No. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you arrive. If it expires sooner, renew it before traveling. Immigration will deny entry if your passport doesn't meet this requirement.
Yes. It's a legal requirement for all international visitors. You must complete it online within 72 hours before your flight. Without it, you may be denied boarding or face delays at immigration. It's free and takes about 10 minutes.
You need a booked onward ticket before you arrive. If you're not sure when you'll leave, book a refundable ticket or a cheap bus ticket to a neighboring country (e.g., Ecuador or Peru). A screenshot of the booking is enough.
Yes, you can work remotely for a foreign employer while on a tourist visa-free stay. Colombia allows digital nomads to work for non-Colombian companies. You cannot work for a Colombian employer without a proper work visa.
