Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your departure date from Tunisia
Your passport needs at least 3 months of validity remaining after your planned exit from Tunisia. Airlines at Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca check this before boarding. If your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Tunisia
Immigration officers at Tunis-Carthage Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Budget airlines flying into Tunisia also check this at check-in. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound booking ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Officers sometimes ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel. A printed booking confirmation or a letter from your host with their address and phone number covers this.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash, card, or bank statement
Border officers can ask to see that you have enough money for your stay. Carry at least 300 TND (around €90) in cash or have a credit card with a recent bank statement showing available funds.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Tunisia, not from when you leave. Double-check before booking flights.
No visa needed for stays up to 90 days
Romanian passport holders enjoy visa-free access to Tunisia for tourism or business. No application, no fee, no paperwork — just show up with a valid passport.

What happens at the border

1
Arrival at Tunis-Carthage Airport (or other entry point)
After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. Join the queue for foreign passports. Have your passport and return ticket ready. The officer will stamp your passport and you're in. Usually takes 5-15 minutes.
2
Prepare documents before the queue
While waiting, have your passport open to the photo page, and your return ticket visible on your phone. If asked, show proof of accommodation. Keep it simple.
3
Exit the airport
After passport control, collect your luggage (if any) and walk through the green 'Nothing to Declare' channel unless you have goods to declare. That's it.
