Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your Serbian passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in Denmark. Schengen rules do not require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date, but your airline may enforce it — check with them before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Schengen area
Border officers at Copenhagen Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket showing you leave the Schengen zone within 90 days. Have a printed or digital copy ready — budget airlines often check this at check-in too.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration may ask where you're staying for the first few nights. A hotel confirmation email or a letter from a friend in Denmark with their address and phone number works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
You should be able to show you have at least €50–€100 per day of your stay. A recent bank statement or a credit card with a decent limit usually satisfies the officer.Recommended
90-day limit applies to all Schengen countries
Your 90 days are for the entire Schengen area, not just Denmark. If you've already spent time in France, Germany, or other Schengen countries, that counts toward your 90-day limit. Track your days carefully.
Travel insurance is not mandatory but highly recommended
While Danish immigration rarely asks for proof of insurance, medical costs in Denmark are high. A simple emergency room visit can cost €200–500. Travel insurance covering at least €30,000 in medical expenses is a smart investment.

What happens at the border

1
Arrival at Copenhagen Airport or other border
You'll go through passport control. Join the 'All Passports' queue. Have your passport and boarding pass ready. The officer may ask about your trip purpose, accommodation, and return plans. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport with the entry date.
2
Prepare documents for inspection
Before you reach the officer, have your passport open to the photo page, and your return ticket and accommodation confirmation easily accessible on your phone or printed. This speeds things up.
3
Exit and collect luggage
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim. If you have nothing to declare, use the green 'Nothing to Declare' channel.

If you stay less than 90 days, no registration is required. If you stay longer (e.g., on a residence permit), you must register with the local municipality within 5 days of arrival.
Overstaying is a violation of Schengen rules. You may be fined, banned from re-entering the Schengen area for up to 5 years, and face deportation. Always leave before your 90 days are up.
Yes. You can enter via any Schengen country (e.g., Germany, Sweden) and then travel to Denmark. The 90-day limit applies to the entire Schengen area, not just Denmark.
