Serbian passport holders can visit Lithuania without a visa for up to 90 days within any 180-day period, a rule in place since Serbia joined the EU's visa-free regime in 2009. Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your entry date.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for your entire stay in Lithuania
Your Serbian passport needs to be valid for the whole time you're in Lithuania. Schengen rules do not require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date — just cover your stay. Airlines sometimes enforce 6 months anyway, so check with your carrier.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from the Schengen area
Immigration officers at Lithuanian border crossings routinely ask for a return or onward ticket showing you leave the Schengen zone within 90 days. Have a printed or digital copy ready — budget airlines check this at check-in too.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officers sometimes ask where you're staying. Have a hotel confirmation, Airbnb booking, or a letter from your host with their address and contact details. A printed copy saves time.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Lithuania can ask for proof you have enough money — roughly €40–€50 per day of your stay. A recent bank statement or a credit card with a decent limit works. They rarely check it for short visits, but have it ready.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Lithuanian border officers will check that your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. If it's not, you'll be denied boarding by the airline or turned away at the border. No exceptions.
Schengen area rules apply
Lithuania is part of the Schengen zone. Your 90-day visa-free stay counts across all 27 Schengen countries. If you've already spent 60 days in France, you only have 30 days left for Lithuania and the rest of Schengen.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before departure
Print or save to your phone: your passport (check validity), return/onward ticket, first night's accommodation booking, and travel insurance policy. Keep them in a folder you can access quickly.
2
Arrive at Vilnius Airport or Kaunas Airport
At passport control, join the queue for 'Non-EU' or 'All Passports'. Hand over your passport. The officer may ask: 'How long are you staying?' and 'Where are you staying?' Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport and you're in.
3
Entering via land border from Poland or Latvia
If driving or taking a bus, you'll stop at a border checkpoint. Same process: show passport, answer a couple of questions, get stamped. Expect a short queue, especially on summer weekends.
4
During your stay
You don't need to register with local authorities for stays under 90 days. Just enjoy Lithuania. Keep your passport and a copy of your return ticket handy in case of random checks.
5
Departure
At the airport or land border, you'll go through passport control again. They'll check your exit stamp. No exit fee. That's it.
