Serbian passport holders can enter Latvia without a visa for stays up to 90 days within any 180-day period. This has been the case since 2009 and remains unchanged in 2026. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Latvia. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required for entry, but airlines sometimes enforce a 3-month rule — check with your carrier.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Schengen area
Latvia is part of the Schengen zone, so immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket showing you leave within 90 days. Have a printed or digital copy ready — budget airlines check this at check-in too.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Officers may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. A hotel confirmation or a letter from a host with their address is enough.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Border guards can request evidence of sufficient funds — roughly €50–€100 per day of your stay. A bank statement or credit card usually satisfies them.Recommended
90-day limit applies to the entire Schengen area
Your 90 days in Latvia count toward the total 90 days you can spend in any Schengen country (including France, Germany, Italy, etc.) within a 180-day period. Keep track of all your Schengen visits.
No arrival declaration needed
Unlike some other countries, Latvia does not require you to fill out an arrival declaration or register online before travel. Just show up with your passport.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Riga Airport or border crossing
Most travellers fly into Riga International Airport (RIX). You'll join the 'All Passports' queue. Have your passport and boarding pass ready.
2
Present your passport to the border officer
Hand over your passport. The officer will check your photo, validity, and may ask about your trip purpose and length of stay. Answer briefly and honestly.
3
Receive entry stamp
If everything's fine, you'll get an entry stamp in your passport. That stamp marks the start of your 90-day visa-free period. Keep your passport safe.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, head to baggage claim (if you checked bags), then walk through customs (green channel if nothing to declare). You're in.
