Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for your entire stay in Slovakia
Your Serbian passport needs to be valid for the whole time you're in Slovakia. Schengen rules don't require 6 months beyond departure, but some airlines check for it — if your passport expires within 3 months of your return date, you might get denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Schengen area
Immigration at Bratislava airport and land borders routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy showing you leave the Schengen zone within 90 days. A bus or train ticket to Ukraine or another non-Schengen country works.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officers sometimes ask where you're staying. Have a hotel confirmation, Airbnb booking, or a letter from a friend with their address and contact number. A screenshot on your phone is fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Slovakia doesn't publish a fixed amount, but have at least €50–€70 per day available in cash, card, or bank statement. Immigration rarely checks this for Serbian passport holders, but it's safer to have a recent bank statement or credit card ready.Recommended
90-day Schengen rule applies
Your 90-day visa-free stay counts across all Schengen countries, not just Slovakia. If you've already spent time in France, Germany, or Italy, subtract those days from your 90-day allowance.
No visa needed — just show up prepared
Serbian passport holders have it easy for Slovakia. No embassy visit, no fees. Just make sure your documents are in order and you're good to go.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before travel
Gather your passport (valid 6+ months), return ticket, accommodation booking, and insurance. Save digital copies on your phone and print backups.
2
Arrive at a Slovak border or airport
You'll enter through any Schengen external border — most likely Bratislava Airport (BTS) or Košice Airport (KSC). Land borders from Austria, Hungary, Poland, Czechia, or Ukraine also work.
3
Go through passport control
Join the 'Non-EU' queue. Hand over your passport. The officer may ask: purpose of visit, length of stay, where you're staying, and return ticket. Answer clearly and briefly.
4
Receive entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the entry date. This starts your 90-day clock. Keep the stamp visible — you'll need it when leaving.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, collect your bags from the carousel and walk through customs (green channel if nothing to declare). You're in.

Frequently asked questions

No, you don't. Serbian passport holders can enter Slovakia visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period for tourism, business, or family visits.
Up to 90 days within any 180-day rolling window. This is the standard Schengen rule. If you've already spent time in other Schengen countries, count those days too.
Generally no for tourism. The visa-free stay is not extendable. If you need to stay longer (e.g., for work or study), you must apply for a national visa or residence permit before your 90 days expire.
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. If it's close to expiring, renew it before traveling. Airlines may also deny boarding if your passport doesn't meet this requirement.
Yes, immigration may ask for proof of onward travel. A return flight ticket or a ticket to a non-Schengen country is sufficient. A screenshot on your phone is usually accepted.
Not strictly required for entry, but it's strongly recommended. Medical costs in Slovakia can be high, and insurance covers hospital stays, emergencies, and repatriation.
Have your passport (valid 6+ months), return ticket, accommodation booking, and proof of funds (bank statement or credit card). Digital copies on your phone are fine, but printed backups are safer.
