Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for your entire stay in Ukraine. No minimum validity period beyond your departure date is required by law, but airlines may enforce 3 months — check with your carrier before check-in.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Ukraine
Immigration officers at Boryspil and Lviv airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready — a flight reservation or bus/train booking out of Ukraine works.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation, Airbnb receipt, or a letter from your host with their address and contact number. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have at least $50 USD per day of stay in cash or on a card. Immigration may ask to see bank statements or a credit card — keep a screenshot of your balance handy.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Ukrainian border control will deny entry if your passport has less than 6 months validity from your entry date. This is non-negotiable. Check your passport now, not at the airport.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save screenshots of your return ticket, accommodation booking, and passport info page on your phone. If your phone dies, keep a printed copy in your carry-on. Border officers may ask to see these documents.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare documents before travel
Check your passport validity (6+ months from entry date). Book a return/onward ticket and first night accommodation. Save screenshots of both on your phone. Consider getting travel insurance and a local eSIM.
2
Arrive at Ukrainian border control
At any Ukrainian airport or land border crossing, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport, return ticket, and accommodation proof ready. Border officers may ask your purpose of visit and length of stay.
3
Receive entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with your entry date and the allowed stay (up to 30 days). Check the stamp before leaving the counter. Keep your passport safe during your trip.
