Frequently asked questions

No. The visa-free entry is not extendable. You must leave Colombia before day 90. If you want to stay longer, you'd need to apply for a different visa type (like a tourist visa extension, which is not available for visa-free entries) or leave and re-enter after a short trip to a neighboring country.
Overstaying can result in a fine (around 2–3 USD per day over, up to a maximum) and a possible entry ban. You'll also have to pay the fine at the airport before leaving. Avoid it — set a reminder to leave on time.
Not required for entry from Russia, but recommended if you plan to visit the Amazon, Sierra Nevada, or other jungle areas. Some border crossings from Brazil or Venezuela may require proof. Check with your doctor 4–6 weeks before travel.
No. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date. If it expires sooner, renew it before your trip. Immigration will deny entry otherwise.
Yes. It's required by Colombian immigration. You fill it out online for free at migracioncolombia.gov.co within 72 hours of your flight. Without it, you may be delayed or denied boarding. Save the confirmation.
If you're transiting and not leaving the airport, you generally don't need a visa. But if your layover is long and you want to leave the airport, you'll need to meet the same visa-free entry requirements (passport validity, Check-Mig, etc.). Check with your airline.
Technically, the visa-free entry is for tourism and business (meetings, conferences). Remote work for a foreign employer is a gray area — many digital nomads do it without issues, but it's not officially allowed. For long-term remote work, consider Colombia's Digital Nomad Visa (up to 2 years).
