Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Gabon eVisa
Apply for a Gabon eVisa at evisa.gouv.ga before you fly. The process takes 3–5 business days — do not wait until the last minute. Print the approval email and carry it with your passport; immigration at Libreville will ask to see it.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have 6 months validity beyond your stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Gabon. Airlines at Moscow Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo enforce this strictly — they will deny boarding if your passport expires sooner.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Gabon
Immigration at Libreville International Airport routinely asks for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone showing your flight out of Gabon.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Gabon. Officers at the border rarely check it, but having it ready avoids delays if they ask.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Have a recent bank statement or enough cash (around 500,000 XAF) to cover your stay. Immigration may ask how you plan to support yourself — showing a card or cash works.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory
You must have a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate to enter Gabon. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport (and possibly fined). Get the shot at least 10 days before travel.
eVisa processing times vary
While the official processing time is 3–5 business days, some applications take longer. Apply at least 10 days before your flight to avoid last-minute issues. There is no rush service.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Gabon eVisa website (evisa.gouv.ga). Fill in your personal and travel details, upload a digital passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee online with a credit card. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days, but apply at least a week before your trip to be safe.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get an email with your eVisa PDF. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and at immigration in Libreville.
3
Arrive at Libreville International Airport (LBV)
After landing, follow signs to immigration. Have your passport, printed eVisa, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready. The officer will stamp your passport — that's your entry permit. The whole process usually takes 15–30 minutes.
4
Exit immigration and collect luggage
After the stamp, proceed to baggage claim. There's no secondary check for most tourists. If you have nothing to declare, walk through the green channel.
