Visa required — apply well in advance
Russian passport holders cannot enter the UK without a visa. Processing takes 3–6 weeks, so apply at least 2 months before your planned travel date. Do not book non-refundable flights or hotels until your visa is approved.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in the UK, not from your departure date. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before applying for the visa.

Apply for your UK visa online
Go to gov.uk/apply-uk-visa, fill out the Standard Visitor visa application, and pay the £115 fee. You'll need to upload supporting documents (passport scan, bank statements, travel itinerary).

Attend biometric appointment
Book an appointment at a UK Visa Application Centre in Moscow, St Petersburg, or Yekaterinburg. Bring your passport, appointment confirmation, and any original documents. They'll take your photo and fingerprints.

Wait for visa decision
Standard processing takes 3–6 weeks. You can pay extra for priority (5 working days, ~£500) or super priority (24 hours, ~£800). You'll get an email when your passport is ready for collection or courier delivery.

Pack your documents
Before you leave for the airport, gather: passport with visa sticker, return ticket, hotel booking, bank statements, travel insurance, and a printed copy of your visa approval email. Keep them in your carry-on.

At the airport (Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, etc.), join the 'All Other Passports' queue. Hand over your passport and be ready to answer questions about your trip (purpose, length of stay, where you're staying). The officer may check your documents.
