Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid only for the period you plan to stay in Kyrgyzstan. Airlines at check-in may ask for 6 months validity beyond your departure date — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Kyrgyzstan
Immigration officers at Manas International Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they check this before stamping you in.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Kyrgyzstan. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Have at least $50 USD per day in cash or a credit card statement ready. Immigration rarely checks this for short visits, but it's a legal requirement.Recommended
No visa needed — just show up
Russian passport holders can enter Kyrgyzstan visa-free for up to 60 days. No application, no fee, no paperwork. Just a valid passport and a return ticket.
Passport validity is critical
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. Airlines check this before boarding. If your passport expires sooner, you won't be allowed to fly.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Manas International Airport (Bishkek)
After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. There are separate queues for Kyrgyz citizens and foreigners. Join the foreigners queue. Have your passport and boarding pass ready.
2
Present your passport to the immigration officer
Hand over your passport. The officer will check your validity, ask a few questions (purpose of visit, where you're staying, how long). Answer briefly and honestly. They may ask to see your return ticket and accommodation booking.
3
Get your entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the date of entry and the allowed stay (usually 60 days). Check the stamp before walking away — make sure the dates are correct. Keep the stamp visible until you exit.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, head to baggage claim, then customs. There's usually nothing to declare for personal items. Walk through the green channel if you have nothing to declare.
