Yellow fever vaccine required if transiting through endemic countries
If your flight to Rwanda has a layover in Ethiopia, Kenya, or any country with yellow fever risk, you must show a yellow fever vaccination certificate (WHO card). Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport.
Visa on arrival is straightforward — but have cash as backup
Kigali Airport accepts cards, but card machines can go down. Carry USD 50–70 in cash (small bills) to avoid any hiccup. Land borders are cash-only.

Arrive at Kigali International Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' or 'Immigration'. There's a dedicated counter. Queue time is usually 10–20 minutes.

Present your documents
Hand over your passport, return ticket (printed or on phone), and accommodation booking. The officer will check everything quickly.

Pay the visa fee
Pay USD 50 (single entry) or USD 70 (multiple entry). Credit cards are accepted, but have cash just in case. You'll get a receipt.

Receive your visa sticker
The officer stamps the visa into your passport. Check the validity dates before walking away. Then proceed to baggage claim.
