Russian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Uganda. The process is entirely online: you apply before you travel, and upon arrival you'll get a stamp allowing a stay of up to 90 days. As of 2026, the eVisa is the standard way in for tourism, business, or transit.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for a Uganda eVisa at the official portal at least 2 weeks before departure. The eVisa is a single-entry permit valid for 90 days from issue. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport to present at immigration.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have at least 6 months validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Uganda. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at Entebbe Airport. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking showing departure from Uganda within your eVisa validity.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Uganda. Immigration may ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient cash or card
Have at least $300 USD equivalent in cash or a credit card available. Immigration can ask for proof you can support yourself during your stay, though this is rarely checked for short visits.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You will be turned away at immigration if you cannot show a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate. Get the shot at least 10 days before travel and carry the yellow card with your passport.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa approval, passport scan, and return ticket as PDFs or screenshots on your phone. Also email them to yourself. If your phone dies or gets lost, you can access them from any internet cafe.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to visas.immigration.go.ug, fill in the form, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50 for a single-entry tourist visa) by credit card. You'll receive a confirmation email within a few days.
2
Wait for approval
Processing usually takes 3–5 business days. Check your email (including spam) for the approval letter. Print it or save a PDF on your phone.
3
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport (or land border)
At immigration, present your passport, the eVisa approval letter, and your return ticket. The officer will stamp you in — typically for up to 90 days. The whole process takes 10–15 minutes if you have everything ready.
