Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport must be valid for at least the length of your stay in Vanuatu. Vanuatu does not enforce a strict 6-month validity rule, but airlines may ask for 6 months — check with your carrier before departure.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Vanuatu
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at Port Vila and Santo airports. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound flight booking ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Immigration may ask for it if you look under-prepared, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for your stay
Have at least 50,000 VUV (roughly $450 USD) in cash or a credit card statement ready. Officers rarely check, but they can deny entry if you cannot show means to support yourself.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check passport validity before boarding. If your passport has less than 6 months remaining from your entry date, you will not be allowed to fly to Vanuatu. Double-check before booking.
No visa, no fee, no registration
Russian passport holders do not need to pay any visa fee, fill out any online form, or visit an embassy before traveling. Just show up with a valid passport and onward ticket.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Bauerfield International Airport (VLI)
After landing in Port Vila, follow signs to the immigration hall. Join the queue for foreign passports. Have your passport, return ticket (screenshot or printed), and accommodation confirmation ready.
2
Present documents to immigration officer
Hand over your passport and any requested documents. The officer will check your passport validity, blank page, and onward ticket. They may ask your purpose of visit and intended length of stay.
3
Receive entry stamp
If everything is in order, the officer will stamp your passport with a visa-free entry valid for up to 120 days. Check the stamp before leaving the counter to confirm the dates are correct.
4
Collect luggage and proceed to customs
After immigration, collect your checked bags from the carousel. Then proceed through customs. Declare any restricted items (food, plants, large amounts of cash) on the arrival card you filled out on the plane.
