Recommended
Carry enough cash or a bank statement showing you can cover your stay. No fixed minimum is published, but €50–€100 per day is a safe benchmark.Recommended
eVisa only — no visa on arrival
Rwandan passport holders cannot get a visa at the Albanian border. You must apply and receive approval before you travel. No exceptions.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Albania, not from when you apply. If it expires sooner, renew it first.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Albanian eVisa portal (e-visa.al). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around €30-50 depending on processing speed). Submit and wait for approval — typically 3-5 business days.
2
Print or save your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll receive a PDF via email. Print a copy and save it on your phone. Immigration at Tirana International Airport (TIA) will ask to see it.
3
Prepare your documents for arrival
At passport control, hand over your passport and eVisa. The officer may also ask for your return ticket and accommodation booking. Have them ready — either printed or on your phone. The process usually takes 2-5 minutes.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After clearing immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. There's usually no customs declaration for personal items. Exit into the arrivals hall.

No, the eVisa is not extendable. You must leave before it expires. If you need to stay longer, you'd have to exit and re-apply.
Rejections are rare but can happen if documents are incomplete or incorrect. You can reapply with corrected info. Common reasons: blurry photo, expired passport, or missing travel insurance proof.
If you're just changing planes at Tirana Airport and staying airside, you don't need a visa. But if you leave the transit area, you need the eVisa.
Your passport, the eVisa approval (printed or on phone), return ticket, and first night accommodation booking. The officer may ask for any of these.
Not strictly, but it's strongly recommended. Some applications ask for proof of insurance. If you don't have it, you might still be approved, but it's safer to include it.
Yes, the eVisa works at all land border crossings, not just airports. Just show the same documents at the border checkpoint.
