What happens at the border

1
Apply for a visa at the Bulgarian embassy
Contact the Bulgarian embassy or consulate in your region (or the nearest one that handles visa applications). Book an appointment, submit your form, passport, photos, insurance, flight and hotel bookings, and proof of funds. Pay the visa fee (around €80 for adults). Processing takes 10–15 working days.
2
Collect your visa and check the details
Once approved, you'll get a visa sticker in your passport. Check that your name, passport number, and validity dates are correct. If anything is wrong, ask for a correction immediately.
3
Arrive in Bulgaria and go through immigration
At Sofia Airport or any land border, join the 'All Passports' queue. Hand over your passport with the visa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and proof of accommodation. Answer clearly and briefly. They'll stamp your passport with your entry date and allowed stay.
