Proof of departure

The eVisa allows one entry. If you leave Kazakhstan (even for a day trip), you'll need a new visa to re-enter.

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Kazakhstan, not from your departure date. Double-check before you apply.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Kazakhstan eVisa portal at evisa.e-gov.kz. Fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport info page. Pay the fee (around $80 USD) and submit. Processing takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive and save your eVisa
You'll get an email with the approved eVisa as a PDF. Download it, print a copy, and save it on your phone. Immigration will scan the QR code at the border.
3
Prepare your documents for travel
Before you leave, gather: passport (valid 6+ months), printed eVisa, return ticket, first night hotel booking, and travel insurance. Keep them in a folder you can grab quickly.
4
Arrive at a Kazakh airport
You'll land at Almaty or Nur-Sultan (Astana) airport. Follow signs to 'Passport Control' — usually a single queue for all foreigners. Have your passport and eVisa ready.
5
Go through immigration
Hand over your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask for your return ticket or hotel booking. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport and you're in. The whole process takes 5–10 minutes if you're prepared.
