Rwandan passport holders need an eVisa to enter Togo. The process is entirely online and straightforward — you apply before you travel, and the approval usually comes within a few days. As of 2026, this is the standard entry method for tourism and short business visits.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for your Togo eVisa at evisa.gouv.tg at least 72 hours before departure. The eVisa is valid for 15 days and costs around 35,000 XOF (about $60 USD). Print the approval email — immigration at Lomé Airport will ask to see it before stamping you in.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your stay
Your Rwandan passport needs at least one blank page for the entry stamp. Togo does not enforce a 6-month validity rule — your passport just needs to be valid for the duration of your stay.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Lomé Airport regularly ask for a return or onward ticket before granting entry. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound flight booking ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Togo. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or cash equivalent to about 200,000 XOF (roughly $330 USD) for a short stay. Immigration may ask how you plan to fund your trip — a credit card and some cash in CFA francs works fine.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccination required
Togo requires proof of yellow fever vaccination for all travellers over 1 year old. Carry your yellow card — you may be asked at immigration. No card, no entry.
eVisa is single-entry only
The eVisa is valid for one entry. If you leave Togo and want to come back, you'll need to apply for a new eVisa.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.gouv.tg, fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $30–$50 depending on nationality) with a credit or debit card. You'll receive a confirmation email.
2
Wait for approval
Processing usually takes 2–5 business days. Check your email (including spam) for the approval PDF. If it's been longer than a week, contact the embassy or use the eVisa site's support.
3
Print or save the eVisa
Print a paper copy of the approved eVisa and also save it as a PDF on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival.
4
Arrive at Lomé–Tokoin Airport
At immigration, present your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. The officer will stamp your passport. The whole process usually takes 5–10 minutes if you have everything ready.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, grab your bags from the carousel and walk through customs. There's usually no baggage check unless you're carrying something unusual.
