Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa on arrival
Available at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) in Dhaka
Saudi passport holders can get a visa on arrival at Dhaka airport. Pay the fee in USD or equivalent — bring cash as card machines sometimes go down. The visa is single-entry and not extendable.Apply onlineRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay
Bangladesh immigration strictly enforces the 6-month validity rule. If your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding by the airline or refused entry at the border.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for visa-on-arrival entry
Immigration officers at Dhaka airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready — they may check it before issuing the visa on arrival.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a hotel reservation or a letter from your host in Bangladesh. Immigration may ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient cash or bank statement
Have at least $500 USD in cash or a bank statement showing available funds. Officers at the visa-on-arrival counter may ask to see proof you can support yourself during your stay.Recommended
Cash only — no cards
The visa on arrival fee must be paid in cash. Bring crisp US dollars or Bangladeshi Taka. Old, torn, or marked bills may be refused. There are ATMs after immigration, but not before.
Visa on arrival is single-entry only
This visa allows one entry into Bangladesh. If you leave (even to a neighboring country), you'll need a new visa to re-enter.

What happens at the border

1
Land at the airport
After deplaning, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' or 'Immigration'. This counter is usually before the main passport control line. At Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, it's on the left side of the arrivals hall.
2
Fill out the visa application form
Grab a form from the counter or a nearby table. Fill in your personal details, flight number, and local address. Keep it simple — no need for a detailed itinerary.
3
Submit documents and pay the fee
Hand over your passport, completed form, return ticket (printed or on phone), and the fee in cash. The officer will process it — usually takes 5–10 minutes.
4
Receive your visa and proceed to immigration
Once approved, the visa sticker is placed in your passport. Then head to the regular immigration queue for entry stamping. Total time from landing to exit: 20–40 minutes on a normal day.
