Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Swedish passport holders need an eVisa to enter Cuba. Apply online at the Cuba Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal. Processing takes 3–5 business days — do not book flights until approved.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Cuba. No minimum validity beyond departure is required by Cuban law, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Havana Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or digital version ready on your phone. Airlines also check this at check-in.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel or casa booking
Carry a printed or digital confirmation of your first night's accommodation. A casa particular booking or hotel reservation works. Officers rarely ask, but having it avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least 500 CUC (or equivalent in EUR/USD) for short stays. Officers almost never check this for Swedish passport holders, but it's good backup.Recommended
Passport validity is strict
Cuba enforces the 6-month passport validity rule strictly. If your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding. Check your passport now.
Keep your arrival stub
The small paper stub you receive at immigration must be handed in when you leave Cuba. Lose it and you'll face delays and a fine at the airport.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Cuban eVisa website. Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Pay the fee (around €30-50 depending on processing speed). You'll receive the eVisa by email within a few business days.
2
Prepare your documents
Print or save digital copies of your eVisa, passport, return ticket, and accommodation booking. Also download a local eSIM or buy a SIM card at Havana Airport arrivals hall.
3
Arrival at Havana Airport (HAV)
After landing, follow signs to Immigration. Have your passport, eVisa, and return ticket ready. The officer will stamp your passport. Then collect luggage and proceed to Customs.
4
Complete the arrival form
You'll receive a small paper form on the plane or at immigration. Fill in your accommodation address and flight details. Keep the stub — you'll need to hand it in when you leave.
