Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Gabon eVisa at evisa.gouv.ga before you fly. The process takes about 72 hours — do not book a flight until you have the approval email. Print the eVisa confirmation and carry it with your passport; Gabon immigration checks it at the desk.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your Swedish passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Gabon. Airlines at Arlanda and Gardermoen will check this before boarding — if it expires before you leave, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Gabon immigration officers ask for a return or onward ticket at the desk. Have a printed copy or the booking confirmation on your phone. If you are flying out to another country, the ticket must show a confirmed departure within the eVisa validity period.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Carry a hotel booking confirmation or an invitation letter from your host in Gabon. Immigration may ask where you are staying — having a printed address and phone number speeds things up.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Have a bank statement or credit card showing you can cover your stay. Gabon does not publish a minimum amount, but 500 EUR per week in accessible funds is a safe benchmark.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccination required
Gabon requires proof of yellow fever vaccination for all travellers over 1 year old. Carry your yellow card — it's checked at immigration. No card, no entry.
eVisa is the only option
There is no visa on arrival for Swedish passport holders. Apply online at evisa.gouv.ga at least two weeks before your trip.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.gouv.ga, fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around €70–€100 depending on processing speed). Submit and wait for approval — typically 3–7 business days.
2
Print your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll receive a PDF. Print two copies — one for your bag, one for your passport. Also save a digital copy on your phone.
3
Arrive at Libreville International Airport (LBV)
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration'. Join the queue for 'Foreign Passports'. Have your passport, eVisa printout, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready. The officer will stamp you in — usually takes 2–5 minutes.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. There's usually no customs declaration for personal items. Exit into the arrivals hall.
