Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you're in Kyrgyzstan. No minimum validity beyond your stay is required, but airlines may enforce a 6-month rule — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Kyrgyzstan
Immigration officers at Manas International Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight out of Kyrgyzstan ready — they check this before stamping you in.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officers may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel. A printed reservation or a letter from your host with their address and phone number covers you.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Kyrgyzstan doesn't have a fixed minimum amount, but carrying around $50–$100 USD per day in cash or having a bank statement showing available funds is smart. ATMs are limited outside Bishkek.Recommended
Visa-free entry is straightforward
No visa, no fee, no application. Just show up with a valid passport and a return ticket. The whole process at Manas Airport takes about 5 minutes.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Kyrgyzstan requires 6 months of passport validity from your entry date. If your passport expires sooner, you will be denied entry. Check your passport now — if it's close to expiry, renew it before booking flights.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Manas International Airport (Bishkek) or land border
Most Swedish travellers fly into Manas Airport near Bishkek. You'll join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport and boarding pass ready. The officer will check your passport validity, ask your purpose of visit, and may request your return ticket. The stamp takes about 30 seconds.
2
Complete immigration form (if required)
Sometimes you'll be handed a small arrival card on the plane or at the counter. Fill in your name, passport number, flight, and accommodation address. Keep the departure portion — you'll need to hand it back when leaving.
3
Collect your luggage and proceed to customs
After immigration, grab your bags from the carousel. Customs is usually a green channel for most travellers. If you have nothing to declare, walk straight through.
4
Exit the arrivals hall
Once through customs, you're free to leave. Taxis and ride-hailing apps (like Yandex Go) are available outside. Have your accommodation address ready for the driver.
